Our kitchen is the hub of our home, where everybody gathers together, either with a tool in hand or a coffee or rinsing a cup, or peeking in a pot, or leaning on the table. Everything is stacked on open shelving for anyone to see and take what he/she needs. I believe firmly “out of sight, out of use”. It is by no means big or fancy or luxurious perfect, but it is busy and I love it.
I have recently given our kitchen a facelift; not really that different – just getting rid of EVERYTHING I haven’t used for a year, some new light grey on the walls, no more hanging pots and pans – in short: MUCH more open and MUCH less stuff!

My kitchen is divided into corners: a coffee corner, where everything is close by the espresso machine and with one easy reach , you can have your mug or cup, tea or milk, spoon or saucer. Glasses are right by the sink and fitlered water. The chopping board and knives are at the ready in the preparation corner.
The blackboard is there for notes and lists, messages and recipes, arts and efforts, do’s and don’ts, wise words and jokes.
Lemons in abundance just for the taking by the chopping board. Herbs for colour and good spirits. The oils and and tools for the stove are all in the cooking corner.
Vinegars and spices take their own little corner in between stations for prepaprtions on the chopping board and pinches into the cooking pots.

I see your kitchen is also your studio, full of colour and inspiration. I love it
Oh Ronell, your kitchen is absolutely stunning. When can I visit?!
You have an amazing kitchen, Ronell! No wonder you are inspired to cook such delicious food there.
Since I’m here for the summer, I thought I’d have a poke around in the kitchen to see what we might be having for dinner tonight. Actually you said you were going to have a coffee and then I never heard another word, so I thought I’d just park myself here at this lovely scrubbed kitchen table and enjoy this wonderful, warm, creative haven while I wait to see how you’re getting on with that you-know-what.
Quelle jolie cuisine aux tons chaleureux! Ce doit etre un reel plaisir de cuisiner chez toi. Great Blog!
